Meet Ken Steven
- President and Founder
Ken brings more than 30 years of marketing, advertising and business consulting experience to the clients of Growth-Trend.
After graduating in 1977 from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, he began his career working in packaged goods marketing for Warner-Lambert in both their confectionery and consumer products divisions. That gave him a firm grounding in market analysis and strategic marketing planning.
Then Ken joined 7-UP Canada where he was solely responsible for managing the flagship brand with annual sales of $200+ million and a marketing budget of approximately $7 million.
Next, to accelerate his exposure to different companies and business sectors, he made a career change to advertising, working first with Saatchi & Saatchi, and then with J. Walter Thompson where he was Vice President Client Services Director for the Toronto office. During this period Ken planned and managed business-building campaigns for such noteworthy companies as Chesebrough-Ponds, Nabisco Brands, TD Bank, Union Carbide, Canada’s Wonderland, and Midas Muffler.
In 1990, Ken founded Growth-Trend Marketing in Toronto to capitalize on that business-building expertise. Since then, he and his team of senior consultants have had the privilege of helping many clients in a variety of business sectors increase their sales and profits, using “outside the box” marketing thinking.
Ken also has a passion for golf and writing. In 2002 he co-authored and published a book called “Swing Machine Golf”, and marketed it exclusively via the Internet, selling more than 10,000 copies. So, he can tell you from first-hand experience how to make your business successful online. (If you're a golfer, he can also cure your slice!)
